Beecher is a quiet village in a rural area south of Chicago

The Village of Beecher is about 40 miles south of Chicago and 5 miles west of the Indiana state line. There's an older section of the village where streets have a small-town character with neatly placed lots, sidewalks and plenty of shade trees. Beecher is a "Tree City USA," as designated by the Arbor Day Foundation. According to U.S. Census estimates, Beecher's population is about 4,800.
Suburban-style subdivisions are farther out, some with sidewalks, some without. There's open space and farmland on the outskirts too.
